Your journey to a meaningful career starts with ZF LIFETEC Advanced-level professional engineer responsible for leading and supervising several professional engineers in the planning and execution of engineering projects involving product design and development initiatives, while also overseeing Machine Shop operations, guiding Project Technicians, and managing MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) activities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: + Oversee daily Machine Shop operations, including workflow prioritization, equipment utilization, and continuous process improvements. + Manage MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) activities, ensuring availability of critical spare parts, supplies, and equipment to support uninterrupted operations. + Coordinate cross-functional efforts between engineering teams, Project Technicians, and production. + Serves as a primary liaison between other departments, divisions and business units. + Supervises manufacturing engineers and several indirect labor groups + Typically reports to the Engineering Manager and works to achieve overall objectives, while reviewing team performance, and ensuring cost-effectiveness of operations. + Estimates number of employees needed and schedules work to meet completion deadline and technical specifications. + Responsible for assigning responsibilities, and tracking project progress up to completion. + Provides input to management for continuous improvement programs and business unit directives. + Also has responsibility for completing performance reviews for direct reports. + May act as back-up for Head of Maintenance/Engineering Manager. + Directs multi-functional teams to attain department goals consistent with cost, quality, safety and delivery requirements. + Interfaces with internal support groups to ensure timely completion of engineering builds and tests. + Demonstrates strong manufacturing and business knowledge. Abilities: + Computer skills; + Proven communication skills; + Proven leadership abilities; + Expert-level knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Engineering; Experience with customer communication systems; + Extensive experience with engineering change systems; + Extensive experience with product design/development processes; + Expert-level knowledge of company products and services acquired through experience and training; + Expert-level understanding of engineering techniques and principles Education: + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required + Master’s Degree strongly preferred Experience: + 8 – 10 years of advanced engineering and project management experience in the automotive industry, with supervisory experience preferred. + Preferred Experiences: + 4 years as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar preferred. + Welding (resistance, laser, friction, GMAW) + Gas filling + Pyrotechnics + Crimping/roll forming + High volume automotive assembly operations + Lean Manufacturing + FMEA Assessments + Project management Physical Requirements: Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed with accuracy for half of each day. Requires steady, active effort and continuous walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in all areas of the plant.
