Engineering Intern or Co op

Emerson Professional Tools is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op for the summer school semester to work at our Ash Flat manufacturing facility. We are accepting applications from candidates who can work part-time or full-time during each term, and are starting a career in engineering. The ideal candidate will be entering their junior year of school and be open to working two terms. This position will actively participate in projects related to manufacturing process control and process improvement.
**In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:**
+ Provide support for key company initiatives, such as lean implementation, downtime elimination, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
+ Work with subject matter experts to measure current process performance, analyze results, develop improvement ideas, and run experiments or trials to improve results.
+ May be involved with new process implementation, involving developing procedures, completing problem analysis, job safety analysis, etc.
+ Work with engineering and shop floor team to identify and design fixtures to improve manufacturability.
+ Interface with Engineers to introduce new products to the plant and help solve problems inherent with production and improve manufacturing efficiency.
+ Examine documents such as blueprints, drawings, change orders and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data.
+ Prepare and submit Engineering Work Orders (EWO).
+ Prepare reports and memorandums as requested.
+ May deal with vendors or others outside of the organization.
+ May be involved with the evaluation of capital investments and assist in preparation of cost justifications.

**For This Role, You Will Need:**
+ Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
+ Completion of at least 3 semesters of course work.
+ Legal Authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided.
**Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:**
+ GPA 3.0 or higher
+ Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
+ Ability to work independently, learn new tasks/handle multiple tasks, solve problems, meet deadlines, and show strong self-motivation and initiative.
+ Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
