Job Description:

At TJX Europe, we’re looking for an Engineering & Facilities Manager! Based in our Stoke Processing Centre, reporting into the General Manager, this role will be pivotal in sustaining the smooth running of the site by ensuring the correct working of all mechanical or electrical equipment, making sure this is constantly maintained and meets the needs of the business.

Your main responsibilities would be:

Lead all facilities and maintenance activities on site, including contractors, acting as technical specialist in for building improvements and repairs

Ensure that all work is carried out to the latest legislation and regulations in conjunction with TJX policy, whilst ensuring safety standards of own team and contractors and within the site are upheld to legislative and Company standards

Optimise availability, productivity and performance from plant, machinery and equipment on site.

Lead the onsite engineering & procurement teams, including recruitment, welfare, performance management and prioritise work schedules

Provide supervision, guidance, support, instruction and training for the development of skills of the team, ensure they are efficient, well-motivated and have a strong desire to complete repairs in a timely manner whilst ensuring H & S compliance

Relationship and S.L.A management of the incumbent site 3rd party cleaning, catering and travel service providers

Ensure all vital risk assessments are undertaken and that Safe Systems of Work are in place in relation to people, plant, equipment, property, environmental and health and safety

Control and maintain an effective planned preventative maintenance schedule in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations and ensuring compliance with all current statutory legislation

Conduct all relevant inspections and testing to Company Health & Safety Policies and Insurers’ requirements.

Identify and maximise chances to create cost savings, including energy usage

Responsible for site maintenance and facilities budget including spent analysis & payment invoicing and site annual Capital Expenditure and project implementation

Develop effective supplier relationships and undertake contract negotiations where applicable and lead contractors in the cost effective and safe delivery of scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Drive an effective and efficient process for continuous improvement

Ensure levels of housekeeping are maintained to the highest standards throughout areas of responsibility and where appropriate advising colleagues of improvement required

To ensure consistent training procedures are maintained so as not to invalidate any warranty or contractual issues in respect to performance

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Engineering qualification (Mechanical / Electrical) with experience in a similar environment, including management of technical team and conversant with systems for pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC’s

Consistent track record working in partnership with management teams with experience of leading and developing a multi-skilled team.

IT literate with Problem solving and analytical skills

Able to read and interpret site plans and drawings / layouts and contribute thoughts to potential site development and changes

HS&E legislation and Codes of Practice

Project management experience.

Able to communicate effectively and embrace appropriate style for audience
