Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Engineering Execution Director 1 to lead a team within the Engineering & Sciences (E&S) organization that supports the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC). This Director role is in the NGMC Engineering organization leading all engineering scope that supports the Advanced Programs (AP) Business Unit. This position is located in Maryland with employees primarily located at Maryland and California sites.
In this role, the Engineering Director will be responsible for the following:
Business facing lead for all functions required to execute the day-to-day activities for every OU, program and/or product line owned by AP BUAccountable for Engineering cost, schedule, and technical performanceFunctional director for engineers of all disciplines that primarily support programs or product lines within AP BUEnsure the business is appropriately staffed and organized – will require significant headcount growth with continued, strong focus on retention efforts, engagement initiatives, and program executionSupport tactical critical staffing activities that cross BUs, divisions, & sectorsWork collaboratively with peers to enable resource sharing across BUs, divisions, & sectorsIdentify and implement strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the business of Engineering in collaboration with peersDrive engineering strategy and practices pertinent to all of the E&S NGMC portfolio, including but not limited to investments and talent strategyDrive key talent development and workforce planning effortsElevate engineering rigor in key areas and overall process complianceDevelop and maintain critical skills plans and actions to support existing programs and AOP pursuitsCollaborate with peers across NGMC, Divisions and Sector(s) to eliminate roadblocks and advance initiativesKey attributes of the Engineering Execution Director
Proven experience as a team player and collaboratorPrevious experience in People and Technical Leadership rolesVery strong engineering background in multiple program phasesSolid understanding of engineering process with execution experience across the program lifecycleProven experience in holding teams accountableServe as the day-to-day E&S focal point for the respective Business Unit DirectorCandidates must have exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills, strategic thinking, strong technical acumen, and the ability to lead multiple engineering disciplines across programs. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and therefore must have excellent communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work seamlessly with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the organization. The candidate must have the ability to build consensus and resolve conflict. The candidate must collaborate with business area leadership, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments. The candidate should always act with integrity, and with the highest ethical standards and treat people with respect. The candidate should develop trusted and valued customer relationships and communicate effectively, so that people throughout the organization feel engaged and connected to their work. The candidate should be able to travel 25% of the time to collaborate with our teams outside of their site.
This position requires full-time work onsite at our Linthicum, MD or Annapolis Junction, MD location.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related technical fields with 10+ years of experience; a Master’s degree in related technical fields with 8+ years of experience; a PhD in related technical fields with 6+ years of experience8 years of professional experience in the defense or aerospace industries5 years previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles5 years previous experience working in a technical roleExperience driving engineering processes for program performance and continuous improvement across the entire program lifecycleThis position requires the applicant to be a U.S. CitizenActive TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraphPreferred Qualifications:

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
