At Grand Hyatt Barcelona, one of the city’s newest and most prestigious luxury landmarks, we are seeking a proactive, technically strong, and people‑focused Engineering Assistant Director to join our Engineering team.

As Engineering Assistant Director, you will play a critical role in supporting the Director of Engineering in maintaining the hotel’s physical assets to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and luxury. You will help lead daily engineering operations, oversee preventive maintenance programs, and ensure seamless collaboration with operational departments to deliver an exceptional guest experience. About the Role

As Engineering Assistant Director at Grand Hyatt Barcelona, you are a guardian of the hotel’s infrastructure and an ambassador of the Hyatt brand. You support the strategic and operational leadership of the Engineering department, ensuring the reliability, safety, and sustainability of all building systems and facilities.

This is a full‑time operational position (40 hours per week) offered on a permanent contract. The schedule is aligned with hotel operational needs and may include evenings, weekends, or on‑call responsibility as required. You will work closely with Engineering, Housekeeping, Front Office, Culinary, Security, and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Assistant Director supports the overall management of the Engineering department and assists in ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life‑safety systems operate efficiently and in accordance with Hyatt standards.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the Director of Engineering in the daily operation and administration of the Engineering departmentSupervising and motivating the engineering team, ensuring proper staffing, training, and performance managementOverseeing preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal functioning of all equipment and facilitiesCoordinating corrective maintenance and responding promptly to guest and operational maintenance requestsEnsuring full compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and Hyatt brand requirementsAssisting in the preparation and management of departmental budgets, cost control, and energy management initiativesMonitoring energy consumption and supporting sustainability and efficiency programsCoordinating with external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality work and compliance with standardsSupporting capital expenditure projects, renovations, and technical upgradesParticipating in emergency response planning and acting as a key contact for technical incidents when requiredMaintaining accurate documentation, logs, and reporting related to maintenance activities and complianceWorking closely with other hotel departments to minimize operational disruption and enhance guest satisfactionActing as Director of Engineering in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and operations
