As the Engineering & Maintenance Manager will develop and maintain an organization within the Shelby site that supports both Business and Operational strategies. You will establish a safety, quality, and productivity functional culture that is inclusive of a diverse workforce including P&M team members, and facility and project engineers. Results are achieved by leading and maintaining a technical P&M and engineering workforce focused on facility and equipment upgrades and sustainability. The job scope includes elevating the site to operational excellency through implementation of Preventive Maintenance/Total Productive Maintenance while building technical and facilities capital projects site wide. This is an onsite role at our Shelby, NC. facility. You will report to the Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering support to improve manufacturing unit process flows, process capability, production yields, overall cost of goods sold, equipment reliability, waste minimization, and EH&S improvements through data-based decision making.
Provide daily support to the manufacturing teams including the observation and analysis of production runs, root cause investigation of off-standard production runs, and the development of sustainable corrective actions.
Identify and drive technical improvements for processes through the collaboration with on-site teams including regular interaction with the manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, EH&S, and quality functions.
Be the technical liaison between new product development programs and the integration of them into manufacturing unit operations.
Execute site capital projects as identified for cost reduction, safety, growth, compliance, and automation.
Use site resources, PPG resources or approved contractors to accomplish strategic goals or complete necessary business critical activities.
Prepare and manage budgets for capital projects and fiscal control of projects, justifying ROA/ROE/ROI, total bid process including bidder lists and bid comparison, strategic cost avoidance and reduction.
Lead, sustain, and grow an experienced and functioning team of Maintenance Professionals, Technicians, Engineers, Managers and Supervisors.
Build and sustain a robust site PM and TPM system with clear KPI's and accurate site status reporting.
Develop, track and execute an accurate and achievable moving 5-year Maintenance, Facilities and Engineering plan
Ensure personnel engagement and relations are held at a high standard
Ensure EH&S compliance with company, government, and outside agency requirements as they relate to process improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
5+ years of management/supervisory experience.
Project Management Professional certification an advantage
Expertise in driving improved performance and metrics.
Drive the root cause/corrective action process for critical issues and ensure that all corrective actions are completed and sustained and drive the predicted results.
Leadership skills to include leading and driving cross-functional teams to achieve measurable results, influence others to adopt new ideas and see alternate perspectives, and identify and develop high-growth talent.
Knowledge of construction procedures, building and safety compliance.
Knowledge of PLC controls and Robots applications and maintenance.
Knowledge of SCADA and MES systems
