Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering, Application and Services Data and Engineering Services Sr. Manager located at either our Lynnwood, WA location or Burbank, CA location.

This is an on-site position.

Job Summary:

The Engineering Services Manager will provide leadership and oversight in integrating and executing Crane's standard Configuration Management system, Document Control processes, and Technical Publications functions. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of configuration management, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and technical documentation to ensure smooth operations and compliance to both industry and organizational standards.  Manager is accountable for the execution of Crane standard Product Lifecycle Management control processes utilizing the standard Teamcenter or Agile PLM system and related master data management systems.  This includes ensuring the consistent application of standardized methodologies, tools, and processes during change control.  The role involves coordinating changes across various domains, including product configuration, production, quality systems, engineering, and marketing documentation.  Additionally, the manager is responsible planning, directing, and orchestrating the work of internal Technical Writers and Project Managers, while ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables from outsourced vendors. Deliverables include, but are not limited to, creation of Component Maintenance Manuals and Procedures, Service Bulletins, and Component Engineering Drawings.  The position requires collaboration across multiple functions, including Engineering, Repair and Overhaul, Supply Chain, Suppliers, Customers, and Finance. The role demands expert knowledge of industry standards, practices, and procedures related to product support maintenance documentation to drive excellence in deliverables and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Team Development:Provide leadership and development for assigned staff, ensuring a skilled, technically proficient, and motivated team.Hire, train, and coach team members to maintain skill levels and facilitate career growth opportunities.Establish priorities to ensure timely delivery of publications, documents, and configuration management outputs to internal and external users.Process and Standards Management:Ensure activities are performed in accordance with industry and company standards, including design, verification documentation, and quality control processes.Drive continuous improvement in systems, methods, and processes to ensure efficient and effective operations in alignment with internal and external requirements.Ensure standardization of products, processes, and tools across all locations and teams, including adherence to Group-wide standards for PLM tools such as TeamOne and Agile.Project and Resource Management:Plan, organize, and lead multiple projects, including oversight of scheduling preparation and resource allocation.Provide technical oversight of assigned work, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and readability of technical documents and configuration management outputs.Act as a key interface between functional areas, document control processes, and external/internal customers.Configuration Management Responsibilities:Lead a team’s daily activities for product configuration, documentation, and the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, including generating BOMs, part numbers, and controlling product structure throughout its lifecycle.Act as a Change Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal and external customers, supporting product/customer configuration audits and ITAR/EAR export classification.Implements document/data management solutions with a primary focus on document control and records management.Support the expansion of PLM rollout and functionality, including integration with component engineering, project management, requirements management, and quality management processes.Identify areas for improvement, migrate product data, and develop new workflows to enhance system functionality.Technical Publications Responsibilities:Oversee the creation and delivery of technical publications, ensuring adherence to quality control processes and company standards.Implement quality control processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and readability of all technical documents.Develop and deliver training materials and standard product design processes to end users.Create and oversee the development of product support documentation, including Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Provisioning Data, Acceptance Test Procedures, and Component Engineering Drawings.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Support the Engineering Applications & Systems (EA&S) management in developing communication strategies and solution plans across the organization.Collaborate with inventory control, purchasing, and other functional areas to resolve operational problems and provide engineering support for MRP.Work with internal and external stakeholders to respond to changing technology environments and customer needs.Global and Strategic Oversight:Provide global coverage for all configuration management and technical publication responsibilities across all solution locations.Produce results consistent with the company’s strategic and operating plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer expectations.Other Responsibilities:Make recommendations on system and process improvements, as well as management policy changes.Any other tasks assigned by supervisors or management.

Minimum Qualifications:

•   Experience: Eight to ten years of experience in configuration management and related areas with proven leadership ability, including demonstrated ability to supervise teams across multiple sites. Experience in training and supporting best practice workflows for change management, part and document creation, and embedded software development.  2-4 years of experience in documentation management and/or configuration management experience, preferably within an Aerospace environment.  4+ years of MRP or PLM software system administration. 

Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of runtime support for design engineering methods and techniques, as well as technical document management systems relevant to an aerospace and electronics design and manufacturing organization.  Understanding of industry regulations.Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated experience in configuration management, customer support, and resource planning and allocation.  Outstanding verbal and written communication, interpersonal, customer service and leadership skills.  Proficient with MS Office suite and PLM experience.Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or other technical discipline. Eligibility Requirement: This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

•   CMII certificate preferred

•   Familiar with ITAR, EAR, AS9100, and knowledge of quality standards

•   Experience in Product Lifecycle Management systems, Master Data Management processes and/or Enterprise-wide software applications

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

Work may be indoors or outside; Outside work will be performed primarily during summer months except in the case of an urgent need

Landscaping work may frequently require working in rainy and/or cool conditions related to a typical Seattle non-winter climate

Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, ladder work, forklift driving (training provided) and use of tools requiring physical strength and dexterity

Some weekend work may be required

Salary Range: $145,000 - $180,000 USD.

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
