**Job Description Summary**
Protection Test Engineer is responsible for configuration, testing of Protection relays and Cubicles for both the Electric Utility & Industrial markets for the Grid Solutions business. In-depth hands-on experience & knowledge of Protection and scheme design is an essential element of this role.

**Essential Responsibilities:**
The Protection test engineer will be responsible for:
+ Perform configuration of protection relays, Validation, factory acceptance test (FAT) of Protection systems.
+ Support site activities when required.
+ Seeks resolutions on hardware, Software, or performance related protection/design issues.
+ Manage Fault reports for resolution via Company’s process. To adhere to all required procedures and processes in force at any time.
+ Provide weekly time sheets and monthly reports including status of all work undertaken by the Engineer.
+ Communicate Project schedule progress, report quality issues and tools/equipment requirements.
+ Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards.
+ Warns the project manager and the technical lead in case of budget deviation forecast / any technical deviation which put the project in risk.
+ Abide by all GE Corporate and local policies and procedures including but not limited to Integrity, Diversity, Proprietary Information, Conflict of Interest.
+ Apply and adhere the company’s quality, environment health & safety policies to the work at Factory and site.
+ Work in a safe manner and ensure appropriate training is taken to do tasks safely.
+ Report any accidents or injuries while on the job.
+ Oversee cubicle safety & good housekeeping practices of team members.
+ Ensure RAMS produced and approved before performing any works.
**Job Requirements:**
+ The incumbent must possess strong knowledge of protection functions, Electrical Scheme, and cubicle design.
+ Strong working knowledge of relays configuration and testing
+ Electrical (motors, generators, power grid and generation)
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ Electrical Engineer with over 5 years’ experience in substations ranging from 11kV to 400kV
+ Ability to travel to customer sites
+ Knowledge on Power & Protection Systems.
+ Experience with electrical Protection relays (LV, MV & HV), detailed design is essential for the job.
+ Strong technical skills on Programming and testing Protection Relays.
+ Ability to perform Functional testing of Protection panels.
+ Experience in Factory Acceptance Testing of protection schemes.
+ Experience on performing testing including but not limited to checking protection functions via secondary injections, GOOSE testing, signal testing with SCADA on IEC61850.
+ Candidates with proven knowledge of GE protection relays and Substation automation solutions are preferred.
+ Ability to organize, prioritize and achieve milestones and deliverables.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer focus and ability to cooperate with the different departments.
+ A rigorous team working approach with a high level of self-motivation, flexibility, and self-learning aptitude.
+ Strong interpersonal skills.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ The ability to work independently within a dynamic work environment is essential.
+ Well-developed organizational skills are required.
