Division: Operations – Baton Rouge
This position serves as an Engineer in the Operations Division of the Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority (CPRA). CPRA is seeking a qualified Engineer Intern Applicant to Engineer 5 staff member to assist with engineering of infrastructure projects, including levees, floodwalls, and pump stations, construction oversight, and conducting on-site inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE:
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.
NOTE:
Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Provides technical support to the Coastal Levee Boards and other Flood Control Entities in developing and implementing the coastal area levee inspection and evaluation program
+ Utilizes specialized technical engineering functions (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Hydrology/Hydraulics, Construction Management, etc.)
+ Conducts hurricane damage assessments and periodic on-site inspections of levees, floodwalls and associated infrastructure
+ Reviews design reports, plans and specifications, geotechnical engineering reports, structural design reports, and hydraulics modeling reports
+ Documentation management, including maintaining and updating project files and folders
+ Drafts correspondence directed to private owners, consulting engineers, local state and federal government agencies
+ Participates in emergency response support for the CPRA Operations Division
+ Assists in the development and review of Letters of No Objection for Levee Permit requests within the Coastal Area of Louisiana
+ Receives direct supervision and assignment coordination from the CPRA Operations Division Engineer 6 Supervisor
Preferred Skills:
+ Civil Engineering degree and experience with a focus on geotechnical, hydrology/hydraulics, structural, or construction engineering and management preferred
+ Ability to anticipate technical issues for which there may be very little precedent

Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, Engineer Intern 2, Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5 depending on level of experience.

Compensation: The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256 annually.
There are special bi-weekly entrance rates established for this position:
Engineer Intern 1 $2,115.20
Engineer Intern 2 $2,263.20
Engineer 3 $2,671.20
Engineer 4 $2,952.00
Engineer 5 $3,158.40
