Short Range Planning Responsible for preparation of 5-week (3month forecast) planManages and oversees the daily plan- daily shovel sequence, dump and truck plan and drill and blastImprove the short term planning results for Keetac by fully understanding operational and technical constraints and their drivers and applying them to the mine plan. Deliver an executable design and mine plan to the operations group that is reviewed and approved by all relevant stakeholders.Work cross-functionally with operations, geology, geotechnical, long range planning, projects, vendors and with site leadership teams to develop, implement and continually improve the short term mine plan. Ensure that dewatering/electrical infrastructure, required drilling, and planned rehabilitation tasks are considered in detail, and are scheduled accordinglyProvide technical direction for the mine related to short/mid-term operations strategy and implementation.Review and implement operational plans and design changesMid-Range Planning Responsible for preparation of the AOP Budget plan, 3+6,6+6 and 9+3 forecast including supporting truck/dump plan and drill and blast requirementsManages 3-12 month infrastructure plan- sump placement, pump and pipeline sizing, roads and electrical substation placementManages AOP Risk Register- Update and report quarterlyDrill and BlastManages Drill and Blast Engineer and associated projects.Ground vibrations and air-blast – Seismograph reportingSurveyManages survey team and daily activitiesHorizon0-1 YearTeam Development:Direct Reports – 3, indirect reports- 2Provide technical and leadership mentorship to junior staff and assess their capabilities providing recommendations for development improvements. Seek development opportunities in support of this role.Individual development plans for teamAnnual Performance ReviewsSuccession Planning for Manager of Short Range Planning role and team membersThis is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testingThe base salary of $8,451.69 to $12,677.53 is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
The position also requires +4 years of applicable work experience.
Level and salary will be based on experience.
All successful candidates are subject to background checks, pre-employment physical examinations and drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Skills
The preferred candidate will be knowledgeable in taconite mining and have a strong geological/mineralogy background and demonstrated knowledge and experience with MineSight, AutoCAD, GPS surveying instruments, other mine planning software, truck dispatch software, mine mapping, and be knowledgeable in taconite mining, concentrating, and pelletizing operations as well as have a background in mining or a related industrial field.
In addition, the successful candidate must be independent with the ability to make sound operating decisions with little input from other managers.
