Openings available for Engineer III at Jabil Inc. in Clinton, MA: Lead the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of machinery and automation for use in manufacturing. Participate in cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts to support sophisticated applications. Lead the implementation of complex and/or large engineering projects, understanding and driving regulatory and compliance certifications as appropriate (e.g. regulatory requirements surrounding ISO9000, ISO14000, AS9100, TUV). Participate and lead product or manufacturing development meetings, making recommendations for change as needed. In conjunction with projects, implement best practices for equipment/manufacturing layout for maximum efficiency and cycle time optimization. Lead complex projects relating to new technical developments and processes. Control project budget. Provide engineered solutions to complex equipment problems. Deliver quotes for projects including new equipment costs, labor, maintenance costs, etc. Drive continuous improvement and optimization utilizing proactive methodologies and trend analysis. Assess the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by the teams. During project implementation, lead the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of equipment set-ups, manufacturing layout, and process changes and/or corrective actions. Assess manufacturing and engineering capabilities, identifying and suggesting solutions for any immediate need or enhancements. Provide ongoing direction and training on process development, root cause analysis, and systematic problem solving. Drive proactive participation with suppliers and aid in their process improvement efforts when possible. Interface and provide technical support on quality issues with the customer as needed. Assist Design Engineers with Design for Manufacture issues.

Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field and 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Also requires at least 4 years of experience:

· Designing electrical drawings, ladder logic, and HMI programs;

· Integrating Safety PLC control systems for machinery and automation;

· Analyzing safety in a manufacturing environment and its application to controls design;

· Working with equipment suppliers and ensuring compliance with customer equipment specifications;

· Working with robot integration and programming;

· Working with equipment design teams and providing recommendations on equipment design and integration;

· Collaborating with contractors and overseeing electrical installation for equipment;

· Supporting plant maintenance and controls teams;

· Using Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, Servo Controllers, HMI products, and software;

· Leveraging industrial networks, including Ethernet, Ethercat, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems;

· Designing and developing PLC programs for automation and controls systems; and

· Integrating vision inspection systems.

Must also have 1 year of experience in each of the following:

· Working with healthcare validation requirements;

· Training entry-level controls engineers and students; and

· Executing validation qualifications (IQ, OQ, and PQ) for production machines according to internal SOPs.

Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
