Engineer II - District Services Group

Job Description:

Overview
This position supports Municipal Utility Districts and other special utility districts as part of Pape-Dawson’s District Services Group. Under the direction of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.), this role is responsible for technical execution of engineering tasks, coordination with project stakeholders, and preparation of reports and documents to support District operations and development projects.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain Capital Improvement Plans (CIP) to support budgeting and financial forecasting for District facilities and infrastructure.

Assist in the development of bond applications and feasibility studies.

Contribute to preparation of Alternate Capacity Requests (ACRs), Re-rates, and Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPPs).

Review development plans, plats, and construction drawings for compliance with District and regulatory standards.

Assist with construction oversight, including site visits, contractor pay application reviews, and project documentation.

Support coordination with developers, consultants, and regulatory agencies (e.g., county, DOT).

Prepare engineering reports and assist in presenting findings to the District Engineer for Board meetings.

Participate in Board meetings under the supervision of a District Engineer.

Assist in preparing construction documents, including exhibits, bid lists, and project specifications.

Provide support to Operators in addressing urgent infrastructure issues such as water main breaks or sanitary excursions.

Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure project success.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.

1-2 years of experience in civil engineering design, preferably in district services, utilities, or residential land development.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification

Proficiency with engineering principles, techniques, and procedures.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, team members, and regulatory agencies.

Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
