Engineer II
 

POSITION PURPOSE 

The Engineer II develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods, and plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and buildings in an industrial manufacturing facility. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Provides technical input, technical support, and engineering design and evaluation on facility and improvement projects. Develops plans and specifications, writes requests for quotations, evaluates bids, and oversees implementation. 

Trouble-shoots manufacturing problems 

Improves manufacturing methods with a focus on automation and improving equipment reliability 

Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators 

Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, equipment layout, and workforce utilization 

Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes 

Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements 

Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service 

Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods 

Leads efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughput 

Prepares capital requests and manages capital projects 

May train and oversee work of other associates

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering – mechanical, material sciences, manufacturing or industrial preferred

Licensed as a Professional Engineer or able to be licensed

3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Teamwork, presentation, project management, and verbal/written communication skills

Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization

Ability to lead, train, and drive change

Ability to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
