Steam Turbine Design Engineer

Do you relish the prospect of working with advanced cutting-edge energy technology products?

Do you love designing products that will innovate?

Join our Industrial & Energy Technology Team!

The Industrial & Energy Technology (IET) organization brings together incredible expertise, technologies, and services. Together we are creating a portfolio of powerful technologies and solutions. Our focus is on supporting industrial and energy customers, driving industrial productivity, and enabling a reliable, efficient, net-zero energy system.

Partner with the best

In this role, you will be responsible for performing activities contributing to the design and development of Steam Turbine components, solutions and systems including the activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Knowledge of Steam turbine fundamentals & engineering tools like Ansys and UG will be preferred.

As a Steam Turbine Design Engineer your role includes (but not limited to) the following:

The Engineer 2 or Scientist 2 works as part of a team to develop and support products within the Technology groups. Work is usually performed with the oversight of a more senior Engineer and within defined parameters. The Engineer 2 or Scientist 2 also develops skills to make work decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planningMechanical Engineering is a field that combines physics, chemistry, and mathematics principles with materials science, to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. Mechanical engineering requires an understanding of core disciplines including mechanics, structural dynamics, rotor dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid and aero dynamics, materials science and structural analysis. Mechanical Engineers leverage principles from these core sub-disciplines with computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and product lifecycle management tools to create and analyze industrial equipment, or processes such as fluid transport, liquid/gas compression, combustion or heating and cooling systems.Coordinates product feature extensions, adaption of solutions and the Integration of products and services for customer order requests. Responds to Technical customer service requests related to application engineering. Leads Engineer to Order workflow processes, with the regions and the product development centersExecuting Steam Turbine customer Requisition projects: Understanding project's requirements through detail review of contractual documents/ specifications, Performing Conceptual design, thermodynamics and blade path selection, performance evaluation, thrust analysis & Rotordynamics verification & finally developing ST components drawings, BOMs & purchase specs.Performing the mechanical integrity and performance assessment of existing and new flow path components: analyzing the functionality, life and performance of turbine components. Conducting trade-off analysis of the possible design solutions.Performing design, analysis & evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, adhering to business standards. Leading analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods.Contributing to NPD/ NPI programs by improving existing design & Developing new components, products and solutions to help realizing market needs & short and long term business strategies. (Requiring strong FEA skills)Delivering project activities individually & as part of a team.Interacting & Working with cross functional teams.
