The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a Engineer, Senior - Drill & Blast - Mine Engineering Services Underground 

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent – Underground Engineering, the successful candidate is responsible for designing, planning and checking the stope blasts for the variety of stoping methods used at NPL. This role ensures development works are completed safely, efficiently and, and in alignment with operational and long-term mine plans.

In this role, you will:

Lead and coordinate daily drill and blast operations, ensuring alignment with the mine plan and production schedule Manage and mentor a team of Drill and Blast Engineers Develop and monitor drilling and blasting KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency Oversee the planning, execution, and quality assurance of drilling and blasting activities, including planning, optimisation and execution Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and statutory regulations Analyze operational data and performance metrics to recommend improvements Contribute to risk assessments, hazard identification and implementation of control measures Collaborate with contractors and internal teams for project execution and problem – solving Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering or related discipline Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mine development (hard rock preferred) with 3 years at senior level Proficiency in mining software - Deswik Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills Valid driver’s license, underground mine competency (e.g. First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate) is an advantage. Knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation. Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
