Engineer, Process Innovation
**Description** Support the Estee Lauder Corporate strategy to continue to be the global leader in prestige beauty by ensuring innovation is developed to support the values of unrivaled quality, creativity and innovation. Support Innovation Engineering responsibilities for process and equipment development activities. Support designated business segment by being the innovation steward for the equipment, ensuring all aspects meet or exceed the quality, creative and product delivery requirements within a managed timeline and cost objective. Responsibilities: Innovation Steward + Understand that the process and equipment innovation and technology development enables rapid creation and development of product innovations. Represent the culture and DNA of Engineering Innovation and Global Engineering. + Working knowledge in inventing, developing, and creating intellectual property around ownable process and machine innovation Concept Feasibility. + Support development of specific unit operations as part of the overall new process and equipment systems. + Working with the Engineering Fellow, assemble and perform equipment and process system tests. + Working with the Packaging Process Innovation Engineer and Machinist, assemble and install molds in molding machines for component manufacturing. + Support rapid prototyping of molded packaging components through working with the Packaging Process Innovation Engineer to determine process settings and data collection. + Understand and provide comprehensive feasibility with data of assigned concept or equipment assembly that defines function, manufacturability, component cost, tooling estimates, preliminary development lead time, risk and global consistency. Project Management + Support the Strategic Management Initiatives by supporting all aspects of the development process. + Technical Feasibility. + Equipment systems outline development. + Equipment Systems technical profiles. + Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (Pre⁃Design Turnover and Post Business Award). + Work with Principal Engineer to execute assigned technical sections of projects through Technical Proof of Manufacturability to ensure design and construction meets all Estee Lauder engineering requirements. + Execute development test plans for all assigned technical sections. + Work with Principal Engineer to define specifications, design criteria and defect ranges to ensure optimal process flow from manufacture of components through filling and assembly. + Develop process and equipment specifications and validate that technical drawings clearly identify all aspects required to define the assigned technical unit operation. + Ensure assigned equipment unit operations are operating efficiently at optimal rate of production. + Keep informed through colleagues, vendors, journals, professional affiliations, and seminars of new materials, processes, and procedures. Timeline Management + Support the Technical Project Manager with risk identification or ways to mitigate risks to support a component availability requirement. + Identify and inform the Technical Project Manager of any risks and or delays during the course of development. **Qualifications** Education/Certification: + Minimum BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Process or equivalent Engineering. Direct Experience: + 1+ years experience in cosmetic equipment or regulated equipment development preferred. + Proficiency in computer systems including 3D Design Systems and Analysis (SolidWorks, Catia, MasterCam and AutoCad preferred), MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. + Working knowledge of manufacturing process and equipment development. + Experience in process control programming such as Python and LabView preferred. Technical Competency. + Ability to demonstrate strong fundamental engineering skills. + Technical competency in analysis of geometric objects in 2 and 3 dimensions including understanding of clearances, fit and finish of assemblies and sub⁃assemblies through Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing of Assemblies and Stack⁃ups. + Working knowledge of Machine Design and Construction layout of processing and packaging equipment. + Working knowledge of test methods used to validate equipment performance. + Knowledge of OSHA, Code Compliance, and manufacturing work flow planning.
