Idaho Transportation Department is hiring anEngineer Manager I for our District 5 Maintenance Engineer, located in District 5 - Pocatello, Idaho. This position will plan, organize, and review maintenance staff, projects, and engineering work; perform professional engineering and related administrative work involving the maintenance and operation of highways, and related activities; and perform related work. This position may involve some travel with overnight stays. This position may be rotated with the Design Construction Engineer or Materials Manager position. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES + Oversee contractor operations, ensuring compliance with contracts, laws, and CFRs for federal participation + Interviews and hires staff, assigns work, and evaluates performance + Conducts professional engineering work involving conventional practices but may also involve a variety of complex features such as: conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult project coordination requirements. + Collaborate with Bridge, Environmental, Materials, and Right of Way teams to resolve complex maintenance issues + Build strong internal relationships and lead discussions to ensure successful project delivery across ITD sections MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Licensure: + Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE); or be eligible for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12 + AND Valid driver's license Good knowledge of: + State and local government operations pertaining to a specific engineering discipline + Management practice Experience: + Supervising staff + Interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws pertaining to a specific engineering discipline + Evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit + Writing engineering reports and correspondence + Reviewing and critiquing engineering analyses + Making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications + Experience leading and managing teams To learn more about the department, please visit the ITD website (https://itd.idaho.gov/) .
