Job Description

As a Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will contribute to projects involving the architecture, design, and development of automated testing for communication modules. Your responsibilities will include test planning, creating test cases, and executing tests using specialized analysis methods, construction techniques, and automation frameworks tailored to industrial automation challenges.

You'll play a central part in designing and implementing test automation, and building system test environments that push Rockwell products to their limits. You'll collaborate on a comprehensive verification and validation program designed to strengthen product reliability. Your efforts will be critical in ensuring that products are robust, free of defects, meet performance standards, and align with total quality management principles.

A passion for testing and problem-solving is essential. We are looking for someone with experience across different software architectures, who can apply that knowledge effectively within control systems applications.

You will report to the Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

Your Responsibilities:Contribute to team planning and status meetings to clarify priorities, assignments, and expected deliverables.Execute routine functional testing with existing test assets and cases, applying white-box, grey-box, and black-box methods to uncover vulnerabilities.Document test outcomes and report identified issues.Collaborate with developers to analyze and define discovered problems.Create new test assets and cases to address evolving product or system requirements.Support the design and implementation of automated testing within a continuous integration/DevOps workflow.Build and expand knowledge of testing methodologies and practices.Continuously enhance expertise in functional test development processes.Assess challenges and explore solutions by consulting subject matter experts, ensuring decisions are evidence-based throughout product development.Define timelines for assigned tasks/projects and monitor progress against them.Apply testing tools and techniques to achieve comprehensive functional coverage.Deliver informal technical presentations to small groups on specialized topics.Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and IT/OT best practices.Show curiosity toward new technologies and products that could enhance Rockwell's offerings, while consistently learning and refining skills.Record and summarize testing results.

The Essentials - You Will Have:Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Computer Science.At least 2 years of experience in software testing or development.Proficiency in programming methods and scripting languages, with skills in Python.Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks.Familiarity with software process development practices.Understanding of computer networks and communication protocols.Knowledge of industrial control systems.Strong written and spoken English.Experience with Interop Testing.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:Experience programming in object-oriented languages like C++/Python.Experience working in a continuous integration/DevOps environment.ISTQB Foundation Level certificate.Experience with Rockwell Automation products.Networking protocols.
