We are seeking a skilled Energy Engineer to perform field inspections of energy efficiency projects. This role involves conducting thorough evaluations of building equipment, including HVAC systems, lighting, and building controls, to ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards.
ResponsibilitiesConduct field inspections of energy efficiency projects.Review project documents prior to site visits.Update availability schedule regularly.Verify equipment specifications and counts during inspections, and take necessary pictures and measurements.Develop detailed inspection memos/reports within 5 business days post-inspection.Assist the technical assistance team with findings from site inspections.
Essential SkillsExperience in energy efficiency inspections and audits.Strong understanding of HVAC, controls, and lighting systems.Proficiency in preparing inspection reports using Microsoft Word.Customer service skills.
Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Architectural Engineering, or a related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.Knowledge of lighting, motors, power distribution.Familiarity with energy codes and standards such as IECC and ASHRAE.Experience with energy auditing at ASHRAE levels 1, 2, and 3.Willingness to travel primarily by car throughout Central Connecticut and other Northeast locations.
Work Environment
The role is based in an office located in Middletown, CT, housing 3-5 engineers. There is flexibility to work remotely for report preparation. The position involves extensive travel to various project sites across Connecticut, with travel expenses covered through mileage reimbursement or rental car arrangements. This part-time role requires approximately 20 hours per week, with potential for up to 40 hours during the busy holiday season. Employees will be provided with a company laptop and phone.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
