This role is essential in ensuring seamless patient care by collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and patients to arrange endoscopy pre-operative/ procedural appointments efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, customer service and multitasking skills , strong medical terminology knowledge and be proficient in Epic and Microsoft Office Suite. Overview Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park. The Endoscopy department at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital is a highly specialized, full-service department meeting the needs of inpatient and outpatient clients. The lab specializes in Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Esophagoscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Small bowel enteroscopy (SBE), and Video capsule endoscopy. The endoscopy staff consists of a NP, RN¿s and technicians who are overseen by an Endoscopy Supervisor. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The RN Scheduler performs the scheduling function for surgeries/procedures and must have a knowledge of various clinical service lines for the operating rooms. This position requires an individual to maintain effective partnerships with physicians/physician offices. The role also requires an individual to be organized, detail oriented, and efficient. Responsibilities Collaborates with physicians and physician offices to receive orders, obtain pertinent patient and procedure information, and schedule all surgeries/procedures in a timely fashion. Utilizes knowledge as a Registered Nurse as well as set guidelines to schedule operating rooms with efficiency, updating other patient care systems such as EPIC when needed. Resolve scheduling conflicts, communicate special requests, work to fill open time, and escalate conflicts to leaders as needed with potential solutions. Maintain reports/utilization/metrics for the operating rooms and keep leadership informed of released block time.
