The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire a Full-Time EMS Educator.
Schedule:
8-hour shifts. Daylight with nights and weekends as needed.Purpose:
The candidate will coordinate, supervise, teach and expand the EMS Education/American Heart Association ECC programs offered at the Center for Emergency Medicine, BLS, ACLS, PALS while providing mentorship to existing instructors (~50% effort). They will also share the responsibility for all CEM supplies, equipment and facility management that support our program activities including simulation, classroom scheduling and laboratory equipment.
Responsibilities:
Organize, coordinate, develop and deploy medical education at the Center for Emergency Medicine to include: AHA, NAEMT, ITLS, USDOT, PA DoH, UMBC, ARC and proprietary courses. Supervise and manage a one hundred plus person instructor pool: maintain competencies, serve as steward of records, recruit instructors from pool to staff educational programming. Serve as liaison between Center for Emergency Medicine and AHA, NAEMT, PA DoH, ARC and other education authorities for medical continuing education. Manage and curate organizational website and social media platforms related to program offerings and current events. Organize, coordinate and supervise management and maintenance of educational facilities and equipment: Skill lab rooms, equipment, cardiac monitors, simulation manikins, and classroom technologies through both one’s individual action and the management of program assistant personnel when available. Collaborate with program faculty to manage use of facility classrooms, lab rooms, conference rooms and other spaces through the use of a web-based reservation system. Function as the primary resource at CEM to external stakeholders and customers: coordinate and schedule educational programming upon request. Develop and grow the AHA Community Training Center and NAEMT offerings at CEM increasing the frequency and seat capacity for AHA and NAEMT courses: Healthcare BLS, ACLS, PALS and other programs as directed.
