Employee Relations Specialist II

This role qualifies for a remote work arrangement within our 7 state footprint (PA, OH, MI, WV, VA, MD, NC). It is fully remote, but requires 30 days onsite at our Claysburg, PA headquarters for training. After that, you’ll likely transition to fully remote work.

 

 

This position offers a base salary range of $60,042.00 - $105,337.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus based on company performance.

OVERVIEW

Provide direct support to the Employee Relations Leadership and Store Operations Leadership regarding the employee relations needs of the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

1. Partner with Store Operations Leadership regarding the resolution of a wide variety of Employee Relations issues with a focus on compliance with Sheetz employment policies and federal, state and local employment laws to ensure all decisions and recommendations are made in a manner consistent with and in support of the Sheetz Culture.  
2. Provide direction and guidance, including the coordination of investigations, to Store Operations Managers and LIT, regarding a broad range and high volume of Employee Relations issues on a daily basis, often involving making complex (in consideration of legal, administrative and Sheetz cultural criteria) decisions.
3. Maintain detailed records of employee relations cases, including investigation findings, corrective actions taken, and relevant documentation in the case management system. 
4. Provide direct support and ongoing follow up, 24/7/365, on unique and sometimes emergent situations, such as employee mental health concerns (threats of suicide etc.), store robberies, employee assaults and deaths, etc. 
5. Approve disciplinary action up to and including termination in accordance with Company policy and escalate more complex issues to the Employee Relations Manager.
6. Coordinate the Employee Engagement Survey follow up process in conjunction with Operations and provide recommendations of actions to be taken based upon interviews with employees. 
7. Respond to and resolve Employee Hotline calls, working in conjunction with Store Operations Leadership, and typically determining when to close an Employee Hotline call.
8. Assist the Legal Department with the Company’s response to EEOC complaints, employment-related litigation, etc.
9. Collaborate with various teams and departments on projects and initiatives that support overall company goals and objectives. 
10. Serve as a trainer/presenter at various Company employee orientation and training programs.


QUALIFICATIONS

(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)


Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required

 

Experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Human Resources or related field required

 

Licenses/Certifications
• PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
