We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join our team. This role involves establishing and maintaining positive labor-management relations, addressing grievances, and ensuring adherence to contract provisions. The specialist will also participate in negotiating sessions for a specific group of union employees. This position requires a local candidate with exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
+ Establish and maintain satisfactory labor-management relations.
+ Monitor and ensure adherence to contract provisions.
+ Participate in negotiating sessions for union employees.
+ Address grievances and respond to questions from union employees.
+ Provide labor and employee relations guidance to all levels within the organization.
+ Serve in a lead capacity, providing guidance to other professionals.
+ Independently provide advice and consultation to managers on labor and employee relations matters.
+ Lead local negotiations and represent the organization's interests at system-wide level negotiations.
+ Conduct training and promote proactive management practices.
+ Investigate and respond to grievances.
+ Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements and policies.
Essential Skills
+ Strong analytical skills for conducting analysis and developing recommendations.
+ Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
+ In-depth understanding of labor/employment law and labor negotiations techniques.
+ Ability to apply effective bargaining strategies for successful outcomes.
+ Knowledge of advocacy principles for representing the organization in dispute forums.
+ Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and employment-related court decisions.
+ Ability to handle difficult or volatile situations effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in a related area and a minimum of four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Public sector or higher education academic experience preferred.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with a schedule of four days in the office and one day remote. The work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM.

This is a Contract position based out of San Francisco, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $74.00/hr.
