We’re looking for an Employee Relations Manager to join us in Schiphol-Rijk.
The Employee Relations Manager will provide a consistent, high-quality ER service by coaching and supporting line managers throughout the employee lifecycle. The role is accountable for end-to-end case management, ensuring the effective application of people policies and procedures, while supporting business change and enabling the organisation to make sound, commercially aligned decisions in line with its risk profile.
What will you be doing?
Manage end-to-end Employee Relations (ER) casework, advising and coaching line managers on issues such as sickness absence, performance management, and complex cases.
Oversee the relationship with the Arbo Service Provider (Health and Occupational Health), ensuring compliance with the Gatekeepers Act (Wet Verbetering Poortwachter) and supporting managers through absence cases.
Provide timely, accurate advice on ER policies, procedures, and employment law risks, escalating high-risk cases to the Senior ER Manager and key stakeholders as needed.
Support business change initiatives including restructures, TUPE, settlements, and other people-related projects.
Contribute to the development of people policies, manager toolkits, and ER training, and deliver skills training to line managers.
Analyse ER data and trends, preparing reports and insights to inform decision-making.
Prepare documentation and liaise with external bodies (e.g., DWV) as required.
Build strong relationships with People Business Partners, line managers, and wider business stakeholders to support effective ER delivery.
Ensure high standards of confidentiality, documentation, and data management, maintaining accurate trackers and records.
Drive continuous improvement by enhancing ER processes, systems, and team effectiveness, and support local ER needs in the Netherlands where required.
We tend to look for people with:
Essential:
Proven experience in Employee Relations case management, including sickness absence, disciplinary, performance, and grievance matters.
Knowledge of Dutch employment law, including the Gatekeepers Act (Wet Verbetering Poortwachter), and its practical application.
Experience working within HR teams, ideally in customer-focused or commercial environments.
Broad understanding of the HR employee lifecycle and the role of ER within it, including interactions with other HR functions.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, resolve issues, and understand business drivers.
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
Self-motivated, organised, adaptable, and resilient.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, HR systems, and workflow/case management tools.
Fluent in Dutch and English.
