patients and the medical community offering primary care urgent care and more than different specialtiesJob DescriptionThe Technologist II must meet the requirements for the Technologist level I Under general supervision the EMG Technologist II records by means of electronic equipment neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system This position demonstrates competence and works under indirect supervision Electrodiagnostic EDX Supervisor or physician must be immediately available for assistance during all proceduresThe Technologist II performs routine as well as more advanced Nerve Conduction Study NCS testing on both common and uncommon nerves recognizes clinically significant waveforms follows policy and procedures established by the AANEM and laboratory protocol and communicates with team members They may be actively involved in the AANEM laboratory accreditation process The Technologist II should possess knowledge of neuromuscular disease processesAdheres to training regarding ethical responsibilities confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Conforms to all OSHA and JCAHO and HHC laboratory policies and procedures including guidelines for universal precautions as well as hospital regulations Knows CDC guidelinesFiles print or electronic medical records according to laboratory policies and proceduresPre Study Procedures Perform comprehensive assessment obtain patient health information and additional information from medical records and patientcaregivers in order to plan recording strategies and avoid adverse effects Explain the testing procedure to patientcaregivers in a manner consistent with their ability to understand in order to establish rapport and elicit cooperation High School or GED and graduate of programAn Associates degree or higher preferred or successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited neurodiagnostic program preferredThree years clinical EDX experience
