**Pay Range:** $32.00 - $52.08 per hour

Prepares patients for electrodiagnostic testing; performs nerve conduction studies and based on level of expertise, autonomic studies, on patients: collects this information for interpretation. Oversee the day-to-day operations of EMG lab and equipment, identify and resolve issues as needed. Serve as liaison between performing providers and department leadership to optimize workflow; and works under the supervision of the RN Clinic Manger. **Required Job Qualifications:**
• Associate’s degree in health science with one year of experience in an EMG lab or 5 years of experience in an EMG Lab.
• Experience with methods, equipment and materials used in nerve conduction studies and electromyography.
• Demonstration of good, competent technical skills and sound judgment in professional practice while caring for child, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric patients specific to electrodiagnostic testing.
• Ability to work in all patient care areas and physically transport electrodiagnostic equipment wherever necessary within the hospital campus is essential.

• Bachelor's degree.

• Explain the procedure to ensure patient cooperation.
• Check the patient's medical records for orders and special needs, especially for those with pacemakers and defibrillators.
• Record nerve and muscle responses using electrodes and document data according to lab procedures.
• Conduct nerve conduction studies and prepare reports for physicians to aid in diagnosing neuromuscular disorders.
• File recordings per laboratory policies and maintain accurate records.
• Investigate and resolve any issues related to EMG testing processes or equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines, including CPR and OSHA standards.
• Train new EMG technologists, participate in quality improvement projects, and develop educational materials.
• Conduct audits of EMG studies, supervise fellows during NCSs, and ensure proper testing procedures are followed.
• Maintain and calibrate EMG equipment, troubleshoot issues, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Work with healthcare professionals to integrate EMG services within care pathways and maintain documentation of procedures.
• Keep up-to-date on the latest advancements in EMG technology and techniques, and share this knowledge with the team.
• Attend teaching seminars and conferences, complete formal reading assignments, and demonstrate knowledge acquisition through certified examinations.
• Act as a resource for technologists by providing guidance on complex cases and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Assist with recording standard protocols, recognize physiological and non-physiological artifacts, and take appropriate steps to eliminate them. Describe normal and abnormal clinical manifestations observed during tests.
• Evaluate and improve EMG processes for efficiency and patient comfort while fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Conduct regular audits of EMG studies to ensure adherence to protocols and clinical guidelines. Identify and address any discrepancies or errors in EMG data.
• Lead or participate in quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and patient satisfaction.
• Provide assistance with clinical research for Pediatric Neurology.
• Coordinate the Neuromuscular monthly multidisciplinary ALS and MDA clinics.
• Serve as a liaison between the EMG Lab and RUMC to ensure the availability of all necessary supplies for electrodiagnostic studies (e.g., electrodes, linen).
• Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to new and existing EMG technologists to ensure competency in all aspects of EMG testing.
• Develop, implement, and maintain standardized EMG testing protocols and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and quality control records.
• Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.
