Emergency Services Charge Nurse

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Charge RN, you will provide oversight of the activities on a nursing unit during a specific shift, including serving as a resource to staff, directing patient flow, assuring appropriate utilization of resources and providing oversight for the provisions of quality care in a manner satisfying to patients.

Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and participation in inservice education.Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.Coaches staff to improve care.Ensures standard of care is maintained.Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.Utilizes the Clinical Response Team (CRT) appropriately for the area.Demonstrates appropriate prioritization and critical thinking skills in critical situations.Utilizes the nursing process, including accurately assessing the patient's physical, emotional, spiritual and learning needs.Documents accurately in the medical record.

Associate Of Nursing ADN, Diploma or foreign equivalent upon hireTwo years ED RN experience upon hire Registered Nurse: AZ upon hire American Heart Association BLS upon hire American Heart Association ACLS upon hire American Heart Association PALS upon hire
