Education Qualifications:

As an Emergency Department Technician, you are responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

CPRWound care including irrigation and dressingSplinting and immobilization of bone injuriesSuctioning of patientsPerforming EKG’sPOC testingObtaining non-invasive specimen swabs such as throat culturesCrutch fittingAmbulation educationSuture removalTransporting of patients between departmentsProviding personal hygiene careAssisting with nutritional needsProviding comfort care and other assistanceAppropriately and safely transferring patientsTaking vital signs and completing record keepingRecognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RNMaintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.

This position will work the following:

48 hours per pay periodEvery Other WeekendEvening Shift: 3:00PM - 11:30PM

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (Must obtain within 1 month of hire)

Must meet ONE of the following:

Completion of an emergency medical technician, licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant or nursing assistant program.Currently licensed as a EMT, NA, LPN, CMA upon initial hireBSN student who has completed at least 3 years of schoolingCurrently employee in the SJMC Emergency Department as an Emergency Room Technician
