Emergency Response & Paramedic Safety Coordinator
Job Title: Safety Advisor

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a commercial project in Vancouver, BC. This role is ideal for a safety professional with a strong background in institutional or healthcare-related construction who is committed to fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and collaboration on-site. The ideal candidate will also bring paramedic or emergency response experience to enhance on-site preparedness and provide immediate care when needed.

ResponsibilitiesLead daily safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.Provide on-site emergency medical response and manage first aid the person.Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills.Monitor contractor safety compliance and support corrective actions.Deliver safety training and orientations (e.g., WHMIS, CPR, Fall Protection).Investigate incidents and near-misses, and support reporting and documentation.Collaborate with project teams to ensure safety integration into daily operations.Maintain accurate records of safety activities and medical interventions.Essential Skills2-5 years of direct HSE experience in construction, preferably in institutional or healthcare projects.Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.Safety certifications such as NCSO, CRSP, CHST, or Construction Safety Officer (CSO) are preferred.Occupational First Aid Level 2 (with Transportation Endorsement) – mandatory.Certified Paramedic or Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) designation.Occupational First Aid Level 3 or equivalent.Strong understanding of provincial safety regulations and emergency protocols.Excellent communication and incident documentation skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation in British Columbia.Experience with COR auditing, ISO standards, and subcontractor management.Familiarity with cranes and hoisting operations is an asset.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable adopting new technologies.Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to influence and educate teams on safety best practices and compliance.Work Environment

This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and involves work on commercial and residential projects, particularly in the Vancouver area. The role requires a strong focus on safety and compliance, with the ability to conduct emergency response activities when necessary. The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, requiring excellent communication and leadership skills to influence safety practices among teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
