Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments.
Every day you will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team.
To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ED.
Provide for Patient's Personal Care
Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse within the scope of practice of a nursing assistant. Includes: activities of daily living, vital signs, lab draws, EKG's, ambulation, meals and routine treatment procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy and EKG's. Able to assist physician with procedures as necessary.
Reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the licensed nurse.
Records patient care measures and treatments given on the patient's electronic medical record.
Performs EKG's on all chest pain patients.
Assist patient with toilet needs
Provide bedpan, urinal or commode
Assist with elimination aides: Colostomy care, enemas
Maintain a clean and neat environment
Make beds
Tidy patient's area
Keep patient's equipment clean
Provide for patient safety and care of valuables
Ensures that all emergency department rooms and the nursing station are fully stocked with supplies.
Assist patient with diet and nourishment
Assist with meals
Feed patients, as necessary
Keep patients supplied with fresh drinking water if able to have fluids to drink
Measure and record oral intake and output.
Nursing bundle
Update white board as related to position responsibilities
Perform hourly rounding as directed by team leader
Document on rounding log pain level, positioning and toilet needs.
Communication
Maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Maintains open and effective communication with co-workers, ancillary staff, physician, patients and family members at all times.
Answers the phone in a polite and professional manner.
