Medina Hospital's Emergency Department serves all patients seeking emergency care - inclusive of all ages from neonate to geriatric, and regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability to pay. The department is focused on providing treatment tailored to each individual patient's specific needs, with an emphasis on expediting care and reducing wait times. As a Paramedic in the ED, you will provide immediate medical treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies, patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. This position offers many opportunities for growth and development, including professional development classes, committee involvement and the chance to serve as a champion for initiatives such as fall prevention, stroke care and hand hygiene. It also provides access to tuition reimbursement for those pursuing a nursing degree. **This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working various night shifts between 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.** _Candidates must work a minimum of 48 hours within a six-week period, primarily during night shifts with occasional mid-shift assignments._ A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. + Obtain and record vital signs. + Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning. + Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks. + Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes. + Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints. + Size crutches and teach crutch walking. + Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc. + Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices. + Transport patients and specimens. + Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment. + Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy. + Perform fluid/drug administration. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program + Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department + Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) + One year of experience as an EMT-P Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
