EMEA Global Trade Lead, Global Trade & Compliance
Description Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for a global trade compliance expert to build and manage the oversight of EMEA customs compliance for Project Kuiper by providing import compliance support and direction to our third party logistics providers (3PLs) in region. Key job responsibilities - Implement trade compliance import processes to support Amazon’s Project Kuiper’s global supply chain in EMEA. - Oversee the preparation of customs entries and follow-up with the clearance process on all entries prepared by brokers and 3PLs in EMEA. - Ensure policies are maintained and effectively implemented, and current to evolving EMEA customs requirements, local regulations and corporate polices/standards. - Facilitate/manage the successful resolution of regulatory challenges through contact/negotiations with EMEA trade agencies. - Develop and manage an EMEA audit program that complies with customs regulations to determine to ensure customs entry accuracy, timely closure of post-entry corrections, and completeness of all record-keeping requirements. - Oversee regular audits, respond to EMEA Customs requests, entry corrections, manage key compliance indicators, effectively communicate compliance requirements and impact both internally and externally. - Initiate, monitor and resolve all post entry activity, regulatory requirements and ensure timely submission to EMEA Customs authorities and associated tracking through final closure. - Provide expert-level knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, FTA and country of origin determination, ADD/CVD scope determinations. - Interface with international carriers, overseas offices, and importers on customs paperwork. - Support systems integration, including ERP, as it relates to EMEA customs operations and trade compliance - Serve as contact with internal stakeholders and external service providers including our EMEA customs brokers, freight forwarders and government agencies on customs compliance - Support in research and preparation of binding rulings, scope rulings, post-entry amendments - Manage daily requests for information for entry processing with EMEA brokers in a timely and accurate manner - Manage the EMEA import recording keeping process. A day in the life As a global trade compliance expert having knowledge of customs, you will provide key insights and analyses on many topics, including auditing, classification, valuation, assists, licensing requirements, partner government agency (PGA) implications, cost-savings initiatives, etc.. You will work closely with internal Legal, Logistics, Export Control, Supply Chain, Tax, Transfer Pricing, Finance and Procurement teams, and a variety of external Amazon partners. You will also work closely with all of Amazon’s global trade teams. You will manage EMEA international trade customs compliance for Kuiper, and interface with brokers and 3PLs resolve problems in the global supply chain for the EMEA region. About the team The Global Trade and Compliance (“GTC”) team is responsible for all aspects of import/export trade compliance, trade expansion in the United States & abroad for Project Kuiper enabling the organization to deliver to our customers and scale globally in countries where Amazon has never operated. The GTC team supports the Kuiper family of businesses filing for export licenses and transacting the imports and exports to support the supply chain to reduce customs clearance processing or seizures of goods. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in international business, supply chain or engineering - Experience in customs compliance with Government trade control laws, regulations and policies, specifically Customs Regulations and PGA clearances, strategic goods regulations, ITAR, EAR, and FTR, as well as EMEA government customs requirements. Preferred Qualifications - Licensed Customs broker - Aerospace or technology manufacturing industry experience. - Previous experience with export compliance, tariff classification and managing customs relationships. - Experience working in a logistics and global trade compliance environment with multinational corporations. - Advanced knowledge of entry writing, ability to classify according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS), participating government agencies clearances (PGA), and AEO.
