Job Opening: Embedded Software Engineer (f/m/d) – Rotational Rheometers

Site: Karlsruhe, Germany

Position Summary

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer (f/m/d) with solid expertise in real-time programming and control system design to join our team developing the next generation of high-precision rotational rheometers.

In this key role, you will design and implement the embedded software architecture for a multiprocessor platform, based on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and TI C2000 real-time processors.

Your work will enable precise torque control in the sub-µNm range, high-resolution force measurement, and accurate position feedback – crucial capabilities for our systems used in leading scientific and industrial applications worldwide.

Your Responsibilities

Develop real-time embedded software for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and TI C2000 real-time processors

Design and optimize control algorithms for PMSM and asynchronous motors to enable ultra-precise torque control

Integrate and process sensor data for axial force sensing and rotary encoder systems

Develop and maintain drivers, middleware, and communication interfaces (e.g., SPI, I²C, UART)

Configure and integrate real-time operating systems (RTOS)

Perform system testing, solving, and performance tuning in a lab environment

Collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, and application engineering teams to ensure overall system integrity

Document software architecture, interfaces, and configurations in accordance with the development process

Your Profile

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in embedded software development with a focus on real-time control systems

Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience with development toolchains for ARM Cortex-M and TI C2000 platforms

Hands-on experience with RTOS integration, interrupt handling, and resource-efficient programming

Solid understanding of control engineering, motor drive systems, sensor interfaces, and signal processing

Familiarity with modern development processes, debugging techniques, and software testing methodologies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English
