Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Native American Affairs Specialist with our Corporate & Community Affairs department. The successful candidate will support the implementation and operation of Nevada Gold Mines’ Native American Affairs program in alignment with NGM’s Corporate Social Responsibility Community Development and Engagement Strategy, which is to build solid, long-term relationships with community stakeholders built on trust, transparency and partnership.

Responsibilities:
· Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive Native American Affairs program that successfully reflects Nevada Gold Mines’ commitment to developing a collaborative partnership with Native American partner communities. This includes, but is not limited to, engagement, social investments and partnerships, cultural heritage programming, seeking and pursuing economic participation opportunities, and education and workforce development programming.
· Contribute to the coordination and implementation of both short- and long-term plans to further develop the Native American Affairs program.
· Assist the Native American Affairs Manager to ensure NGM’s compliance with the Collaborative Agreement.
· Develop and deliver presentations to tribal councils, boards, and committees on topics that are relevant to them regarding NGM operations in order to strengthen the collaboration between NGM and the Native American partner communities.
· Provide active mine sites and Exploration and Closure groups with regular trainings on the importance of cultural heritage to the Western Shoshone, Paiute, and Goshute people of the Great Basin.
· Assist with the Native American Affairs program social investment processing, budget tracking and reporting
· Continuously improve Native American programming by seeking out opportunities for enhancing communication between NGM and the partner tribes.
· Assist the Native American Affairs Manager with other program related activities as needed.
· Collaborate with the broader Corporate and Community Affairs team.
Qualifications:
· Minimum one year of experience in an environmental, permitting, human resources, communications, community relations, or CSR function.
· Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
· Experience successfully utilizing management system software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to be proactive and innovative within a dynamic environment.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a range of levels inside and outside the business.
· Ability to work autonomously or in a team setting.
· Ability to undertake frequent travel.

About Nevada Gold Mines
Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.
The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick’s Cortez; the combination of Barrick’s Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp’s Carlin; and the combination of Barrick’s Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp’s Twin Creeks.
