The Chief of Drill Services is a senior leadership role with enterprise-wide impact, responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and performance of Nevada Gold Mines’ contractor drilling fleet. This role ensures that all drilling programs—across exploration, resource definition, and mine operations—are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and ethical standards.

As a key leader within NGM, you will drive contractor performance, technical excellence, and continuous improvement while championing health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) leadership. You will play a critical role in implementing and evolving the Barrick Global Drilling Standard, influencing how drilling is conducted across NGM and Barrick operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and enforce HS&E performance across all drilling activities, ensuring compliance with Barrick standards and contractor requirementsOwn drilling contractor management, including bid evaluation, scope development, contract execution, and performance oversightProvide technical governance of drilling programs to ensure safe, fit-for-purpose execution aligned with industry best practicesOversee Drilling Services teams, administrators, and contractors, promoting a strong safety culture and accountabilityDrive technical development within Geology and Drilling Services through coaching, training, and standardized drilling practicesCoordinate drilling programs and rig movements across NGM and Barrick sites to ensure efficient, compliant deliveryMaintain and support consistent application of the Barrick Global Drilling Standard across operations

Lead stakeholder engagement with geologists, contractors, and site operations to plan programs, communicate risks, and resolve issues proactively

 

Qualifications

High School Degree

Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience including mine drilling projects and commercial drill contracts

Minimum five years’ experience in a leadership role overseeing multiple contracts and/or drilling projects

Strong understanding of commercial drilling contracts and bidding process

Strong working knowledge of drilling practices, including but not limited to, DD, RC, and Sonic
