Reports to: Site Principal
Salary Schedule Range: Depends on Experience, from Class I, Step 1 $64,099.13 to highest placement at Class III, Step 13 $107,762.82 to start - listed in the Human Resources section of the District website under B-6 Certificated Base Pay. Annual stipends for a Master's and Doctorate degrees.

Purpose of Position: Under the immediate direction of the Principal, is responsible for the academic, social and psychological growth of students in the classroom. Collaborates with school personnel, parents and community agencies to provide quality instructional programs and to perform other duties directly related to this position description.

Implement with fidelity the instructional program to meet the needs of a socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially and linguistically diverse student population.
Implement classroom instruction and student supports based on student achievement data.
Review the results of assessments and implement interventions to assure that all students meet grade level proficiencies.
Support the achievement of all students, in particular a heightened level of focus on socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially and linguistically diverse student populations.
Student-Centered
Carry out the school’s program expectations to meet the needs of all segments of the community.
Provide opportunities for students to see their own background and experiences through the curriculum.
Be aware and responsive of the individual needs of each student and family.
Communicating important classroom information to all students and families in the classes.
Culture and Climate
Establish and maintain high expectations for achievement and implement systematic supports using Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) so all students can achieve standards.
Participate in family engagement programs
Carry out the school’s student behavior policies and procedures with an emphasis on addressing the disproportionality of the system’s impact on specific student groups (i.e. students of color, students with disabilities, socio-economically disadvantaged).
Assume responsibility before, during, and after school hours for the health, safety, and welfare of students.
Maintain the classroom as a safe space for students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Functions:
Provides learning experiences in reading, language arts, social studies, pre-reading, mathematics, science, art, physical education, and music to students, using course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
Instructs students in citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal, auditory and visual instruction of students
with wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturities.
Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs for enhancing self-image and to help the students make a satisfactory transition to school.
Differentiates instruction.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the natural informal atmosphere of a kindergarten.
Evaluates academic and social growth of students, and keeps appropriate records.
Communicates with parents through a variety of means. Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress and interprets the school program.
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
Maintains professional competence through participation in Professional Learning education activities
provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
Assesses student test performance results and develops lesson plans an instructional material for the class including individualized and small group instruction as necessary in order to adapt the curriculum performance standards to the needs of each pupil.
Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
Non-Essential Functions:
Evaluate each pupil’s development in the course(s) being taught and prepare necessary reports.
Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
Supervises students in out-of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs with the school and/or district level.
May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistant and other paraprofessional working in the kindergarten area.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed matter and observing students.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal speech levels.
Ability to bend and twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl. Ability to reach in all directions.
Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to carry up to 25 pounds.
Moderate to high stress levels.
Work is predominantly in school environment.
Climate is normal; occasional adverse weather conditions.
Regular contact with students, teachers, school staff, district staff, parents and community members.
Desired Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Required Qualifications:
Possession of a valid California Multiple Subject Credential
Bilingual Cross Cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD or BCLAD) credential, or equivalent.
Montessori certification
