Job Title: Electronics Technician III

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM EST
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to support the Controls Lab operations at Cummins, Inc. The technician will be responsible for hands-on technical support of test systems and lab equipment during night shift hours, ensuring the lab environment is functional and optimized for testing operations. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with electronic circuits and hardware, and the ability to troubleshoot both software and hardware systems.
Monitor and complete assigned work orders during night shift hours
Perform hardware setup and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems
Troubleshoot and resolve daily test system software/hardware issues
Execute setup changes for HIL systems and equipment
Install and maintain required software tools and support items (e.g., CyberApps plant models, LUIS configurations)
Modify and maintain wiring harnesses and system hardware as per test plans
Create peripheral connections for integration with sensors, instruments, and engine components (IAT, EGR, VGT, etc.)
Document hardware configurations including serial numbers, hardware cards, and system load styles
Maintain CAN panel and actuator cart configurations
Support calibration and scheduled system maintenance activities
Contribute to documentation, training materials, and troubleshooting guides
Assist with electronic test custom hardware development and system upgrades
Collaborate with Hardware Engineers and technical teams as needed
Participate in lab organization, inventory management, and continuous improvement efforts
Top Skills Required:Knowledge of electronic circuits
Strong system troubleshooting skills
Experience with electronic tools and data measurement systems
Qualifications:Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in a technician or similar technical role
Hands-on experience with electronic testing environments, tools, and instrumentation
Ability to work independently during night shifts
Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
High attention to detail in setup, wiring, and system configuration tasks
