Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Engineering Department, Combat System Division, (Code B280), Forward Deployment Regional Maintenance Center Detachment, Bahrain. Relocation and recruitment incentives up to 25% may be authorized. The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week). Responsibilities You will provide technical services in connection with direct support of MK-15 CLOSE-IN WEAPON SYSTEM (CIWS), RAM MK-31 and SeaRAM missile launchers, Gun Weapon System, and ancillary and special purpose test equipment in support of these systems. You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREP) or similar problems affecting assigned equipment. You will provide technical assistance complex technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, intermediate maintenance activities, or repair activities to diagnose and correct. You will provide authoritative technical engineering guidance to Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) activities and port engineers in resolution of repair, overhaul or problems beyond their level of in-house engineering expertise. You will perform special engineering analyses and studies in support of NAVSEA or in service engineering agent (ISEA). You will perform functional checkout, grooming, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment. You will participate in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes (FCs) which include actual hands-on modification of components. You will serve as a team leader of organized teams (e.g. Assessments and Inspections) composed of not fewer than five General Schedule technicians (or contractor equivalent). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical engineering guidance and troubleshooting weapon systems such as, Close in Weapons Systems (CIWS), SeaRAM, or Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM); 2) Using testing equipment and ancillary systems hardware such as electronic, electrical, mechanical, and computerized data for the repair and alignment of weapon systems; and 3) Performing all phases of troubleshooting such as installation, operation, testing and maintenance for electronic equipment and antenna systems to ensure compliance. Education ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Travel is dependent upon position description and availability of funding. The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Accompanied tours are not guaranteed.
