Overview
The Electro-Mechanical Technician will support the rapid electronics build of sub-assemblies and finished systems for X-ray systems used at Ports and Borders. This role involves diverse tasks, troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering and test teams to resolve technical issues. Candidates should be comfortable working with large systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Troubleshoot cables, harnesses, panels, mechanical, and large system builds.
Troubleshoot technical issues with varying complexity.
Interpret work instructions, drawings, schematics, and documentation.
Work on on wires, PCBA’s, and components.
Use basic measuring instruments (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
Provide feedback on assembly processes and suggest improvements.
Complete build records and documentation accurately.
Conduct quality checks on own work and buddy checks on others’ work.
Maintain workspace cleanliness using 5S methodologies.
Follow guidelines, regulatory, and compliance policies.
Participate in cross-training activities and work independently with minimal supervision.
Install software on various computer platforms.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Positive, energetic, and self-motivated.
Experience with mechanical systems
Ability to work on mobile X-ray systems (XML, MLX, MXPL).
Strong troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical issues.

Skills and Requirements
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Active License
2+ years of experience in electromechanical, electronics troubleshooting, or R&D.
Electrical and mechanical background; ability to troubleshoot systems.
Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings.
Must be able to work a computer
Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Physical ability to maneuver large components Preferred Certifications:
IPC 620, IPC 610, IPC 7711/7721, or J-STD (current or expired).
Ability to operate computers and install software.
