Electronics Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)

The Applications Engineer provides technical expertise and project planning support to tailor solutions to meet customer requirements and capture new business opportunities. The applicant collaborates with Business Development to generate, and nurture leads and supports proposal preparation in response to Requests for Information (RFI) and/or Requests for Quote (RFQ). In some cases, this includes supporting Design Engineering in the design, development, and fabrication of limited prototype hardware.
Applications Engineering also supports product and strategic planning activities through the development of product/technology roadmaps and associated gap analysis.
+ Collaborate with Business Development to generate and nurture leads by providing and assessing technical information obtained from both PacSci EMC and the customer.
+ Confer with engineers, customers, vendors, or others to identify and define the product and application requirements, specifications, and interfaces to satisfy the application solution between the customer and PacSci EMC.
+ Prepare engineering sketches or specifications for products or systems.
+ Analyze system requirements, capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine feasibility of project and develop project plan.
+ Provide continuity during the transition from the lead phase to proposal phase to the prototype phase by acting as the main technical liaison between the customer and PacSci EMC.
+ Collaborate with the Proposal team to prepare and review budget and cost estimates for materials, equipment, labor, and installation projects.
+ Collaborate with Design Engineering to prepare documentation containing information such as descriptions or specifications of hardware, product development or introduction schedules, product costs, or information about product performance in accordance PacSci EMC development processes.
+ Review and evaluate work of others, inside and outside the organization, to ensure effectiveness, technical adequacy, and compatibility in the resolution of engineering problems.
+ Represent PacSci EMC at conferences, meetings, boards, panels, committees, or working groups to present, educate, or defend technical findings or recommendations, negotiate compromises or agreements, or exchange information.
+ Provide technical support and instruction to staff or customers regarding design specifications and standards, assisting with specific, difficult in-service engineering.
+ Reports on the status of assigned tasks and estimates and raises problems and concerns for resolution. Raises scope issues for resolution.
Qualifications – External/internal:
+ Experience with government specifications and industry standards related to electronic components and systems’ design, manufacture, and test as it relates to ordnance systems such as: rocket motor ignition, flight termination, propulsion, etc.
+ Demonstrated problem solving skills in applying mathematics, science, and technology in product design, analyzing information, and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
+ Excellent written and communication skills with customers, supervisors, peers, or subordinates - Providing education and information to customers, supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telecommunications, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
+ Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office, Project, and Visio to organize, plan, and prioritize work as well as document/record and process information.
+ Creativity - developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
+ PacSci EMC is a U.S. Department of State ITAR-regulated employer. To comply with ITAR requirements, this position is limited to U.S. citizens.

+ Bachelor of Science, Engineering
+ Minimum of 7 years relevant experience required.

**Pay Range**
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is $20.00 - $40.00 hourly.
**Is this role subject to ITAR?**
The essential duties of this position require adherence to U.S. Government export control regulations.
