STS Technical Services is hiring an Electronics Engineer II in Westminster, Colorado.

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an Electronics Engineer II to join their manufacturing team. At this level, you will be responsible for full-stack hardware development of complex modules and small systems. You will take projects from concept through detailed design, analysis, layout, build, test, and delivery, performing hands-on work at every stage.

This senior role also introduces technical leadership opportunities, including responsibility for small teams of hardware engineers. Products include high-reliability systems for space and airborne applications, requiring designs with both technical rigor and the agility of a startup environment.

The successful candidate will present engineering design review materials to customers and executives, making excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Own end-to-end design of complex electronics modules and small systems, from concept and architecture through schematic, layout, test, and production Focus on digital and mixed-signal hardware development for space applications, including SDRs, SBCs, and phased array antenna payload subsystems Lead small teams of hardware engineers to develop new multi-module assemblies Develop hardware architecture and write requirements for moderately complex systems Perform schematic design for complex boards, from key components to supporting passives Perform PCB layout in Altium Designer for complex boards, independently or with a PCB Designer Complete analyses such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity, and power integrity, and guide interpretation of results Develop bring-up and verification test plans for new hardware and systems Conduct bring-up and verification testing of modules and small systems, often with technician support Release modules and assemblies to production in collaboration with Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams Mentor junior and senior engineers to strengthen technical skills and professional growth Apply working knowledge of adjacent fields, such as software and mechanical, to streamline hardware development Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university Minimum of 6 years of board-level electronics design, analysis, and test experience Significant experience in rigorous electronics design with thorough analysis and testing (aerospace preferred but not required) Expertise in digital and mixed-signal electronics, including signal integrity, FPGAs, ADCs/DACs, and telemetry subsystems Experience with high-speed digital (10+ Gbps SerDes) and SDR applications preferred Proven experience owning design phases, including trade studies, part selection, and detailed design Demonstrated success delivering hardware designs through production and deployment Expertise in PCB layout, including HDI stack-up design and high-speed routing Experience with signal integrity and power integrity simulation tools (Ansys SIwave, ADS SIPro, or Mentor Hyperlynx) Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and design review experience Strong working knowledge of adjacent fields (software, mechanical) to guide system design Expert-level proficiency in Altium and related electronics design tools Extensive lab experience with bring-up and verification of new hardware Excellent written and spoken communication skills Preferred Experience 8+ years of professional electronics design experience Experience leading small hardware engineering teams in multi-module system development Expertise in high-speed digital electronics, including simulation, lab verification, SerDes optimization, and interconnect solutions Experience with SDR applications Direct experience designing high-reliability electronics for space or defense, including derating, worst-case analysis, and thermal constraints Knowledge of design for space radiation environments About STS Technical Services
