The Electronic Systems (ES) sector spans the commercial and defense electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare and night vision systems; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems.
BAE Systems is seeking a manager for the metrology organization for our Electronic Systems sector. The Metrology Manager role is critical to ensuring that our factories across 15 locations across the US are supported by internal teams as well as a network of external partners. The selected manager will lead and mature a metrology and calibration team with a clear focus on improving our capabilities and efficiency through data driven decision making. This role reports into the central Operations organization and serves and provides the selected leader with the right visibility into how this complex organization operates across our numerous factories and geographies.
Key responsibilities of Metrology Manager include:
+ Leadership and operation of the metrology and calibration laboratory functions, ensuring all customer and internal measurement and testing requirements are met accurately, safely, on time and in a compliant manner.
+ Establishing service level agreements with the factory customers including levels of support and agreed upon KPIs (such as turnaround time).Ensuring that they are continuously monitored and reported upon.
+ Ensuring that Customer communication is met in a consistent and methodical manner for a center led organization.
+ Driving continuous improvement across measurement capability, accuracy and efficiency. Develop and implement new metrology strategies, improve inspection plans.
+ Manage departmental budgets, staffing levels, and equipment resources.
+ Assist in establishment and coordination of internal trainer/trainee programs.
+ Actively participate in and facilitate laboratory meetings to promote effective interpersonal communications and process improvement.
+ Resolve metrology related problems with technical team members, to identifying issues, conducting thorough root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
The successful candidate will bring the following lived experiences to the role:
+ Significant Factory or Supply chain leadership experience.
+ Effectively leverage their leadership skills to lead and influence a varied team of trained operators and technical engineers.
+ An understanding of service level organizations that support numerous customers with different needs.
+ Strong communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and factory customers, with the ability to negotiate win-win solutions in a timely and decisive manner.
+ Ability to understand and drive technical concepts and solutions. A methodical, data-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills.
+ The ability to interpret and apply customer specifications and industry standards.
+ Solid understanding of management principles such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and performance management required.
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Bachelor degree in Engineering or other technical field of study (or equivalent leadership and education experience).
+ Proven experience managing or leading a metrology or calibration function.
+ Strong working knowledge of measurement and test equipment.
+ Programming experience with metrology equipment.
+ Expertise with lean principles.
+ Black Belt certification from American Society for Quality (ASQ).
+ Experience in high-volume calibration environment.
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
