USD $XXXXX per annum, to be paid monthly in arrears.

*subject to local tax (if applicable) and less any applicable salary due under any relevant Local Employment Contract.

 

As the project moves beyond the initial mobilisation phase, your contract will be revised within the next three months to align with GardaWorld’s standard terms. This will include a reduction to your current monthly rate to reflect the long-term pay structure for the project and to bring it in line with country and industry norms. In addition, the current 40-day Home Leave cycle will be replaced by a formal rotational contract, with clearly defined on duty and off duty periods.

Onboarding Fee

USD $218.00 per month, to be paid in arrears.

Home Leave

40 days per 12-month period, subject to operational requirements

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address. 

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or any other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodation at the project.

 

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), a copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

Sound knowledge of electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection) Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability Understanding of low-voltage electrical systems and structured cabling Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools and standard electrical testing equipment Familiarity with basic networking concepts related to security systems (IP-based cameras, NVRs, etc.) Methodical, organised, and detail-oriented Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team Willingness to work in challenging, remote, or high-risk environments

 

Essential Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience installing or maintaining ESS components Experience with security systems such as CCTV, ACS, IDS in a commercial, government, or military setting Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair system faults independently IT-literate with basic understanding of security networks and camera configurations Fluency in English (spoken and written) Able to follow instructions and adhere to technical guidelines Fit for deployment to Balad, Iraq, including meeting medical and security clearance standards Willingness to work extended hours or shifts if required by operational needs Valid UK Category C or C1 Driver’s License (for operation of B6 armoured vehicles) or equivalent international license.

 

Desirable:

Vocational training, certification, or diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications, or IT Manufacturer certification in systems such as Lenel, Avigilon, Genetec, C•CURE, or similar Previous experience in an austere, remote, or post-conflict environment Familiarity with US DoD, FCDO, or similar contract environments Prior military, police, or government agency technical background Basic understanding of data protection requirements related to security systems First Aid certification or other relevant HSE training. (Level 3 FPOS or FREC).

Services

Services provided by the Contractor shall be those typically expected for someone in the position of ESS Technician and include, but are not limited to, the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of Electronic Security Systems at Balad, Iraq. The Contractor will work under the direction of the ESS Deputy Technical Manager and ESS Technical Manager to ensure all security systems—including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and related infrastructure—operate reliably and in accordance with client requirements and project standards.

 

Services the Contractor can expect to carry out would include:

Installing, maintaining, and servicing electronic security system components (e.g. CCTV cameras, access control readers, alarm sensors, DVR/NVR systems). Conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal system performance. Troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in system hardware, cabling, power supplies, and software interfaces. Assisting with the configuration and calibration of devices and control systems as per technical specifications. Supporting system upgrades, expansions, and reconfigurations under the supervision of senior technical personnel. Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, fault reports, part replacements, and system updates. Maintaining the integrity and organisation of technical tools, spares, and service equipment. Coordinating with the security operations team to respond to access issues, system alerts, or failures. Adhering to all health and safety standards during installation or maintenance work. Following all GardaWorld Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical guidelines. Liaising with vendors or subcontractors where necessary to support technical integration or warranty repairs. Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by GardaWorld management or the ESS Technical Manager in support of the contract.

This service is critical to maintaining the operational capability and reliability of Electronic Security Systems at Balad, Iraq. The ESS Technician supports front-line security operations by ensuring all systems remain functional, aligned to mission requirements, and compliant with technical standards.
