We are currently searching for an Electricity Market Modelling Expert to support a key client in Belgium on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Job Description:
Role Overview
• Conduct electricity market modelling studies to support national Flexibility Needs Assessments (FNA) in line with EMDR requirements.
• Perform assessments on RES integration, ramping needs, and short-term flexibility using economic dispatch results.
• Contribute to data preparation and report drafting processes within the SMA (Scenarios, Market & Adequacy analysis) team.
• Ensure consistency and synergies between FNA indicators and other studies such as the 10-Year Adequacy and Flexibility Study and Summer Outlooks.
• Support tool and methodology development using R, Python, Excel, and VBA.
• Collaborate with team members to implement and refine simulation tools and methodologies.

Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electricity market modelling or energy data analysis.
• Proficiency in R or Python (experience with both is a plus).
• Strong skills in Excel (must have) and VBA (nice to have).
• Experience with ANTARES or other economic dispatch tools is highly valued.
• Fluent in English and either French or Dutch.
