Job Description: Electrical Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking qualified Electrical Technicians to provide comprehensive electrical maintenance and technical services at our Colombo manufacturing facility under our facilities management contract.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Distribution & Maintenance:

Maintain and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, LT panels, and switch gear

Perform routine maintenance on generators, transformers, and electrical equipment

Conduct electrical safety inspections and testing of RCDs, earthing systems, and surge arresters

Manage power distribution panels across manufacturing departments (PMD, SMD, CPD)

Monitor maximum demand readings and power factor management

Equipment Services:

Maintain air conditioning systems, compressors, and HVAC equipment

Service boilers, steam distribution systems, and associated electrical components

Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery electrical systems

Perform preventive maintenance on fire detection systems and security equipment

Safety & Compliance:

Conduct monthly inspections of portable tools, emergency lamps, and safety equipment

Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and work permit procedures

Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Perform quarterly testing of electrical safety devices

Emergency Response:

Provide 24/7 breakdown response services

Operate backup generators during power failures

Conduct emergency repairs to minimize production downtime

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification:

Electrical qualification from German Training Institute, Advanced Training Institute (ATI), or equivalent reputable technical institute

NVQ Level 4 minimum competency preferred

Valid electrical technician certification

Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience in electrical maintenance in food processing or manufacturing environment

Experience with industrial electrical systems, generators, and HVAC equipment

Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and regulations

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics

Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics

Experience with electrical testing equipment and tools

Knowledge of motor control systems and power distribution

Key Requirements

Physical & Personal:

Age between 21-60 years

Sound physical and mental health

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Capability to work in shifts and respond to emergency calls

Documentation:

Valid National Identity Card

Police clearance certificate

Grama Sewaka clearance certificate

Annual medical examination clearance

Health & Safety:

Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Adherence to company Environmental Health & Safety policies

Completion of required safety training programs

Working Conditions

Shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays

Industrial manufacturing environment

Both indoor and outdoor work locations

Emergency response availability required

Performance Expectations

Maintain 100% availability of electrical systems during production hours

Achieve zero safety incidents through proper procedures

Complete all maintenance activities per scheduled timelines

Maintain accurate documentation and reporting standards
