About you and this role As an Electrical Technician, you would perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration work on industrial electrical circuitry and components. You will be part of a diverse team including Dow Crafts, Contract Crafts, Maintenance Engineers, Reliability Engineers, and plant personnel focused on improving the reliability of the plant assets. Responsibilities + Work on circuits from 24VDC to 480VAC. + Resolve deficiencies found during inspections and tests. + Install electrical systems and equipment. + Perform routine scheduled and non-scheduled electrical troubleshooting, repair, and calibrations. + Locate and correct power failures and short circuits. + Make modifications to programming and configuration of programmable logic controllers and distributed process control systems. + Knowledge and use of electrical test meters such as Voms meggers loops simulators and clamp meters. + Be able to read electrical schematics and blueprints. + Perform mechanical repairs as needed to plant equipment. + Write maintenance procedures as required for performing routine and standard maintenance tasks. Required Qualifications + A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required AND one of the following: + A minimum of an associates degree or a certificate from a trade-school in an electrical discipline. + 3 or more years of military training/experience as an electrician will be accepted in lieu of a degree. + 3 or more years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting. + A recognized Instrument or Electrical Apprenticeship Program. + A current, valid U.S. driver’s license is required for this position. ​​ + This role may require occasional short-distance travel within the U.S. + Able to work the occasional off-hour and weekend shifts to support plant outages and unplanned events. + Staff on-call responsibility is a requirement of this role. + Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the drug-free & smoke free workplace policy. + Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card. Preferred Qualifications + 3 or more years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting. + Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel. + NCCER journeyman certified in Electrical craft (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference). + Experience with SAP ECC (enterprise computer system). Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations + Climb ladders up to 24 ft. + Perform tasks off a scissor lift /aerial lift. + Ability to lift and work with objects (up to and including) 50 lbs. + Equipment inventory at roof level. + Full outreach ability. + Ability to read, understand work processes, drawings and safety procedures. + Able to work in awkward positions. + Able to work in inclement weather. + Work in area powered by 20 megawatt arc furnaces where molten metal is processed. + Able to hear and see alarms and visually inspect equipment. + Work in areas that are somewhat uncomfortable due to draft, noise, temperature variations or the like. + Work in areas that are very unpleasant because of extreme temperatures, noise levels, odors, dusts or other conditions. + Ability to determine full range of colors in work areas, drawings and mapping. + Ability to move about commercial properties and construction sites, through tight passageways and corridors. On feet throughout start-up process. + Able to pass medical examination for full face respirator use. + Be able to work from heights and within confined spaces. Your Skills + Electrical Circuitry Proficiency- Ability to work safely and effectively with electrical systems ranging from 24VDC to 480VAC, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical components. + Instrumentation and Calibration- Skilled in performing routine and non-routine calibrations and adjustments on electrical instruments to ensure accurate and reliable operation of plant systems. + Control Systems Knowledge- Proficient in modifying and configuring programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS), supporting automation and process control improvements. + Technical Documentation and Interpretation- Capable of reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals, as well as writing clear maintenance procedures for standard tasks. + Diagnostic and Testing Expertise- Experienced in using electrical test equipment such as volt-ohm meters (VOMs), meggers, loop simulators, and clamp meters to diagnose faults and verify system integrity. + Professionalism and Reliability -Demonstrates strong professionalism and reliability through a consistent commitment to high-quality work, punctuality, and dependability. A proactive self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in collaborative team environments.
