Electrical Technician

Overview:

We are currently hiring for Electrical Technicians to support our clients in Newport News, VA. In this role, you will be supporting our US Naval Ships with successful and safe work for our Navy customer by providing cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations for our Navy and the Military. 

Description:

Perform troubleshooting and correct malfunctions.Conduct various tests or experiments, which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data.Performs electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.Repair electrical wiring, restoring the electrical connection to power a ship's engine and navigation systems, and securing work areas aboard vessels to avoid electrical shock.Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performs computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plots data and draws simple curves and graphs.Perform routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operates and adjusts simple test equipment; records test data.

Qualifications:

Experience in electrical work in a related field and shipboard experience.A combination of experience in the following areas:Competency attaching fiber optic, RJ-45, DB type connectorsRead drawings (Tradesman level)QCI instruct of lower techsImplement safety program/SRAR Qual/CPPrelim QA testing, MCTs, space closeoutsMultipin competentElec testing reqs, i.e. ground checks, RSPT testingLayout & cutting of electrical enclosures, electrical hook-ups & multiple meter knowledgeReading drawings (Apprentice level)Band/pack MCTs/RISELayout & mount small equipment as neededBasic knowledge of tools, QA documents, meterSafety: Actively participates in safety surveillances & walk-throughs.Familiarization with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.Attention to safety, which is critical.

Preferred:

An active DoD Secret clearance.An OSHA Certification.Fiber optic certification.Multipin cert would be a huge plus.

Additional Information:

20 openings available.1st shift, 5am-1:30pm, Monday-Friday.Pay Rate: $20-$40/hr based on experience.Benefits offered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
