Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized staffing firm, is assisting our global manufacturing client with an Electrical Substation Cost Estimator opportunity in Raleigh, NC. This role offers a hybrid work schedule, with two days per week on-site and three days remote. This contract to hire position is an exciting opportunity to potentially grow with the company in a long-term capacity.

Duties:
As an Electrical Substation Cost Estimator, you will be transforming engineering plans into real-world projects. You’ll work alongside passionate experts, using cutting-edge tools and your own industry insight to bring precision and clarity to every stage of construction planning. Responsibilities include the following: Review and interpret engineering plans with accuracy. Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for civil works, building construction, high + low voltage electrical and mechanical installation. Develop unit costs using industry standards for labor, equipment, and materials. Estimate construction costs from engineering drawings and specifications. Provide budget estimates for electrical substations. Use estimates to support construction scheduling. Evaluate subcontractor pricing and change requests. Maintain and contribute to the organization’s construction cost database. Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Your background: Education related to quantity surveying, construction management, or related field. 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimating, preferably in electrical substations Proficiency with estimating software such as Prost or ProEst. Strong understanding of industry labor, equipment, and material cost standards. Experience assessing subcontractor bids and change orders. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Candidate is required to have work authorization that would permit them to work for the organization full-time in the United States.
