Project Engineer - Electrical Power Systems Design

Kick‑start your engineering career with ABB and help power a more sustainable future. In our Process Automation – Energy Industries (PAEN) team, you’ll work on real projects that keep offshore and industrial installations running safely and efficiently—while learning from some of the best in the industry.

What you’ll do

Be part of the design and documentation of electrical power distribution systems (HV/MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS, drives).Actively work in turning customer requirements into practical, compliant solutions.Get hands‑on exposure to testing, installation and commissioning activities.Collaborate with experienced engineers, project managers and suppliers—both in Norway and internationally.

What you’ll bring

1–5 years of experience in electrical engineering for power systems (offshore/industrial or utility) covering parts of: HV/MV (AIS/GIS 5–132 kV++), LV switchboards, transformers (dry/oil), frequency converters, UPS, generator control.Understanding of multifunction protection relays and how protection fits in a power system; hands‑on relay configuration/testing is a plus.Familiarity with interfaces to automation systems (e.g., IEC 61850).BSc/MSc in Electric Power Engineering (or equivalent).Proficiency in Norwegian and English (spoken and written), a collaborative mindset, commercial awareness, and eagerness to learn.

The position will be located in Oslo / Fornebu

ABB Norway PAEN (Process Automation and Energy Industries) is involved in projects delivering electrical equipment and advanced control systems covering a broad field of applications, such as the oil and gas industry, subsea electrical systems, power from shore to oil installations, offshore wind, hydro power plants, onshore and offshore fish farms, and more.
