Electrical/Instrument Engineer

Our client, a major Oil & Gas company, is looking for a I&E Engineer to work on an initial 3-month contract in Texas City, TX

 

? Role Overview

Support capital projects ranging from $1MM to $500MM. Responsible for technical design from concept through completion. Ensure compliance with MPC specifications and industry standards. Provide support during construction and commissioning phases.

?? Key Responsibilities

Define scopes and develop I&E design options. Review/approve construction documents for code compliance. Participate in MOC, constructability, P&ID, and project review meetings. Specify and assist in procurement of I&E materials. Use and update SKM/ETAP power system models. Establish preventative maintenance plans for installed equipment. Recommend improvements to corporate I&E specifications. Serve as custodian for instrument specifications.

? Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 10 years of experience in refining, petrochemical, or equivalent manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, API, NEMA standards. Proficiency in SKM/ETAP modeling tools.

? Candidate Targeting Strategy

Experience Level: Senior-level engineers with 10+ years in refinery or petrochemical environments. Technical Skills: Strong background in electrical/instrumentation design, standards compliance, and power system modeling. Location: Must be local to Texas City or within commuting distance (no relocation or per diem). Soft Skills: Ability to work independently, collaborate in project review meetings, and support construction teams.
